Philosophy: Everyone learns to row in a small boat first. Single shell, two oars each. RRC teaches a solid foundation in theory, rigging, skills, and finally, race strategy. Sculling develops the muscles of rowing equally, which is ideal, and less prone to injury.  RRA athletes are expected to have a higher level of responsibility, accountability, and give full attention and effort to each class.  Each athlete receives individual attention and goals are personalized.

Membership and Boat Use

Experienced scullers can be "checked out" for a rowing shell for unlimited use on their own. They must pass a capsize test, and demonstrate proper sculling technique before they can be authorized to row a club shell. Membership is mandatory, and payment for boat use must be done prior to each month. Scullers are expected to follow all the traffic patterns on the lake, and sign a waiver for the club. Cost: Membership $150.00 per year    Boat Use $40.00 per month

What to wear?
Layers are important. Start with snug-fitting running tights or shorts. A tank with a t-shirt that you can tuck in is next. We like bright colors, or at least white, so you can be seen on the water.  A windbreaker, pullover or fleece are last, depending on the weather.  Thick socks, and bring an extra pair, as they do get wet.  No loose clothing, such as soccer/basketball shorts, as these get caught in the rolling seats.  Shoes you can slip off easily - we don't wear shoes in the boats.  Flip flops are OK, too, but bring those socks!
Water bottle!
Towel (in the very unlikely event of a capsize)Enter content here
